A great guest can bring a fresh perspective. New information and captivating stories for your listeners, inviting a well-known or established guest on your podcast, can also be advantageous and growing your listeners, a guest who is a popular voice of authority in your podcast subject, could bring you new listeners, especially if they share that episode Of their audience, but before you can benefit from having guest appearances, you need to know where to find them.
In this episode of podcasting q, you’ll learn some of my favorite methods on how and where to find great guests for your podcast [ Music ], starting with the most obvious place. Social media chances are you’re, probably on some sort of social media platform, whether that’s Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn, and so are potential guests.
I host a comic book and pop culture podcast, so I follow a lot of creatives and industry professionals on Twitter. It allows me to build an online rapport with them before I even reach out some of your guests might invite direct messages or list their professional or personal emails for inquiries such as podcasting.
Think of some good guests that relate to your podcast subject and see if they have an online presence on social media. Linkedin is a great place to make connections with potential guests. If your podcast deals with business or specific industry, [ Music ], another great place to look is other podcasts, believe it or not.
Other podcasts are a great place to find guests for your own show. Take a look at the podcast that you personally subscribe and listen to or find ones that are related to your show’s theme and take note of the guests that they have on.
Are the guests important in that industry? Do they have a large following? Are they a voice of authority related to your show’s subject? Chances are if they guess on other podcasts they’ll probably be open to coming on your show for the right approach and being a guest yourself on other podcasts is also a great strategy.
To put you in touch with potential guests, you could trade guest appearances with a host of other shows or be in a position to be put in touch with someone that would probably guest on your show [, Music ].
A third strategy to consider is good old-fashioned. Networking what better way to find a great guest for your podcast than looking internally, if your podcast is related to your profession or industry that you’re personally involved in there might be a number of good guests within your own, immediate circle.
Think of colleagues, co-workers, and leaders in your profession that would have something of value to offer your listeners that one great guest could be someone you or a friend or family member already knows: [ Music ].
Here are a few strategies that I personally use, starting with publications. They can come in the form of newsletters blogs and articles. I find that staying up to date with the latest industry news, that’s relevant to my podcast subject, especially in the form of newsletters, has helped me stay aware of movers and shakers directly involved in or contributing to the topics that would interest.
My listeners, I recommend you, follow a few websites or subscribe to newsletters that deal with your podcast subject and start keeping track of the different movers and shakers in that respective industry.
That would make great guests for your podcast. You can also use podcast guest matching services, online podcasts, booking services like matchmaker.fm or pod match, help to connect podcasters and guests.
Think of it like an online dating app, but for podcasters to be matched with interesting guests related to their show, subject, or topic services like this. Allow you to find guests experts in areas and people of interest, based on the topic of your show on a community-based search platform.
The best part is that most of these services start out free to use and usually offer a paid plan that offers premium features like interview, release, forms, and access to premium search filters.
