The thing that you are talking about on your podcast come up with a list of about 10 possible keyword search terms. So if you have a gardening podcast, you might figure out that you want to target fiddly fig gardening tools, soil things related to gardening.
So if you’ve got a podcast episode about keeping a fiddle leaf alive for more than a year and people are eating that up, then that helps you know. Oh, this is a topic. People really like it. Maybe I need to gear this more towards fiddle leaves, and not just all kinds of plants or tropical plants.
So hopefully, after doing a little bit of that research, you have your list of 10 to 20 terms, and keep in mind term doesn’t just mean one word: how to keep a fiddle leaf. Fig alive could be one search term, and so you have a little bit of leverage there and some room to put together some really good search terms so have a list of about 10 to 20 of those and then take them to google.
That’s our next step. Do you want to search those terms to see how are people answering this? What are the questions that are coming up around it so that, hopefully, as you’re looking at how people are handling those search terms that you have you’re able to craft a better answer? The next thing you’re going to want to do is to make sure that you craft a complete answer to those search terms.
So when someone searches keep fiddly fig alive, that they come to your site or listen to your podcast and hear a complete answer and don’t go. Looking for another version of that answer, you’re giving yourself the best chance of google ranking you hire and recommending your page, your site, and your content, the next time, someone searches for that search term.
Here are a few tools to make this SEO term thing a little bit easier for you, we’ve got Moz, we’ve got keywords everywhere, and then we have hrefs. Each of these tools will help you find and narrow down the terms that are going to yield you the most results.
The next thing you’re going to want to do to really take advantage of SEO strategy is to make sure that you craft your titles around your keywords. So make sure that there’s at least one keyword in your title so that it helps the title actually come up in search results.
This is also really important when it comes to podcast listening apps listening, apps, really utilize your title to help pull content that is relevant to a search. Just a slight note about this. While it is important to have a keyword or two in your episode title, let’s not get crazy and add 15.
At the end of the day, people are deciding to click on your content, not a robot, and so it’s not necessarily the best look to have a three page, long episode. So now that you have some of those basic SEO strategies in place here are some next level tips for you on google podcasts.
This is just a really simple way to have a google connection right off the bat second leverage, is your social media. Following definitely point your listeners on social media, back to your podcast episodes and website, and lastly, little known, but maybe not so little known, use transcripts because all the content within your transcript, especially if you’ve done a good job at stuffing, that a little bit with your Search terms will be indexed by Google and help the podcast transcript come up in the search results, so this is a really cool way to take advantage of SEO marketing strategies.
