You Won’t Be Able to Block Followers Anymore In X (Twitter), Says Elon Musk

Headlines:

  • X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk recently announced that users will no longer be able to block followers anymore.
  • He has explained that you cannot block followers to block their posts. However, you can still block their private messages.
  • Elon also announced that a “new and better security and privacy system” is being developed to take its place.

With a slew of feature removals and additions taking place in X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk has got himself involved in a slew of controversy and user uproars. However, the most significant came in the form of removing the “block user” feature in X.

Elon has announced that users will no longer be able to block other users on this platform. If someone follows you (or you follow someone), you can forget about blocking him if you deem it fit to do so. However, the only redeeming factor about this development is the fact that you still have the power to block that account from personally messaging you and creeping up on your DMs.

This has got the user base in a frenzy since the ability to block other users to protect your privacy and sanity has become an essential feature in all social media platforms.

In addition, removing this feature could potentially get X in legal trouble since doing so will be a violation of the privacy and security policies of the Google PlayStore and Apple App Store.

However, Elon has promised users that “something new and better is being developed to replace this feature.” Right now, we have our fingers crossed at what it could be since most Twitter users are leaving X and jumping ship to Meta’s Threads.
