Corporate Video Production: Is It Affordable?

Video content strategies are a go-to solution for companies looking to attract their audience quickly.

Every professional would love to afford a great ad that will memorably show their services. But at what cost?

While top-tier companies allocate a hefty budget to their marketing teams, smaller companies, and startups may wonder if they would ever meet this budget, considering everything they need to get their company off the ground.

Let’s get a more nuanced answer and find out how affordable (or not), investing in corporate video production is!

The Layout

A corporate video will only come together successfully when diverse professionals work together. They include:

Storytellers/Concept Creators

This is a professional who will create your video concept by first understanding the vision, and message and then creating a script. You can’t break down this cost alone as it’s often included in the overall video production budget. This is because the concept creators will bring other professionals on board, and this is where the cost breakdown will start!

Cameraman/Videographer/Production Crew

There are corporate videos that are easy to make. They only involve a videographer shooting a talking head while others are more complex, depending on the project. A professional videographer costs anywhere between $50 to $100 per hour.

Editor

A video editor is a vital part of your corporate video production project. In essence, they determine what your video will look like. Think of them like a makeup artist, the more experienced they are, the more beautiful the end product. They cost anywhere from $45 to $200 per hour depending on their experience.

Actor/Voice-Over Expert/Narrator

When making training or onboarding videos, you’ll need a voice or narration to guide users This is where a voice-over expert or narrator comes in! They charge a minimum of $200 to $2500 a minute according to their skills and years of experience.

Equipment

The equipment needed may vary from one video to another. You may need a drone, motion rig, or lighting when shooting in the evenings. While a video production agency will handle this for you, they may still need to outsource what they don’t have, knocking up the price a little bit. Expect to pay $25 to $100 per hour or more.

Other Costs to Consider

Apart from the four aforementioned cost factors to consider, you’ll still have to think about overhead costs. These come in the form of coaching talent, graphics, licensing, location costs, stage time and so much more. It’s always best to set aside extra for miscellaneous costs, so the budget bus doesn’t find you on the wrong side of town.

How It All Comes Together

When you consider all these costs, a corporate video production company could cost between $5000 to $1000 depending on project type and complexity. Commercials are often cheaper than giant corporation videos, which could even soar to $100,000. So, there isn’t a specific answer to whether video production is affordable. The price is relative and reflective of what you want to achieve.
